One of the more common problems that occur during the winter months are pipes freezing. This can be prevented by a very inexpensive and simple solution that can be done by yourself.  In extremely cold weather turn your faucets on to a very slow trickle so that there is a constant water flow that will keep pipes from freezing. You can also purchase some very inexpensive pipe insulation at your local hardware store and insulate any pipes that are on an outside wall, that have a tendency to get colder than others.
